Long time Jeffersontown resident Randy Lawson has been appointed to serve as the new chief.  Col. Lawson has been a member of the Jeffersontown Fire Department for 34 years.  He began as a volunteer firefighter in 1975 and was hired to fill a newly created career position in 1980.  At that time he was one of only 5 career employees.  The department then averaged about 325 runs per year.  We now have 48 career employees and average over 1900 runs per year.  Rather than boast of qualifications, certifications and affiliations he preferred to mentioned how honored he is to serve as fire chief for the Jeffersontown Fire Department.  He offers his commitment and that of his staff to maintain the exemplary service that the constituents of the fire district have been accustomed.   Col. Lawson is proud of the men and women that serve on the department and the community the department serves.  He and his wife Debbie have three children (a firefighter, a teacher and almost a teacher) and four grandchildren that have stolen his heart.
